Technical FAQ

General

It is a Software Development Kit(SDK) to develop AR application working on Moverio.
It can develop application which have function of tracking 2D image or 3D object and overlay CG.
For object tracking, not only rich feature objects but also support to detect low feature objects.
Developer's Guide - 1.2. Features

Smartphone AR will overlay CG to camera view inside smartphone display.
For Moverio, it will overlay CG to actual image/objects that you are seeing.
Former is called video see-through, and later called optical see-through.

It supports MOVERIO BT-300, BT-350, BT-2000 and BT-2200.

It may work, but have no operational guarantee.

Application Development

Please refer to the introduction of the "Developer's Guide".
Also sample application is included inside Moverio AR SDK package.

Creating training data of object that you would like to track and registering to the application is required.
Tool to create Training data is included inside Moverio AR SDK package.
For how to use, please refer to Developer's Guide Chapter 5 and 6.

Yes, it can. It is possible to register training data up to 5 in same time.
If you register more than 6, the first registered data will be released.

Inside one training data, you can store one 3D object. For 2D image, you can store up to fifty.
*Maximum registration of 3D objects is five with five training data.
*Maximum registration of 2D images is fifty with five training data.

Yes, you can. Up to 3 tracking at same time is possible.

Yes, it supports until Unity 5.2.1–5.6.6, –2017.4.11, –2018.2.8 on Windows PC environment.

It is not necessary for developing AR application.
But, if you want to use function like tap mute or sensor of the controller, it is necessary.

No, it is not supported.

Optical See-Through AR

It is required to do calibration before using optical see-through AR.
The tool for calibration is included in Moverio AR SDK package.
For how to use, please refer to Developer's Guide Chapter 3.

  • For BT-300 and BT-350

    Only once. But we recommend to do calibration it for each users.

  • For BT-2000/2200

    As camera and glasses part have mechanical movement, we recommend to do calibration each time you wear.

No, you cannot. It is required to do calibration for each device.

There is a possibility that calibration was not done correctly. Please confirm the following:

  • Please print the marker used for calibration using actual size with no scaling.
  • Please keep your head still as much as possible while doing calibration.

Object Training

Create the data to track the object and image. Please use Training Tool and Capture Tool included in SDK package. Training Tool works on Windows PC nad Capture Tool works on Moverio.

2D image: Images (JPEG, BMP, etc.) is required
3D object: Object's CAD model and photo taken with Capture Tool are required. Capture tool to take photos is included inside Moverio AR SDK package.

It support Bitmap (8-bits, 24-bits, and 32-bits per pixel formats), JPEG, PNG, and TIFF.

It supports OBJ and STL using millimeter unit measurement.
Total number of faces is recommended to be below 40,000.

No, you cannot divert.
Please create training data using tool included in Moverio AR SDK package.

Others

It is right handed coordinate system.
For details, please refer to Developer's Guide Chapter 2.5.
