1. Introduction

This update application includes the firmware update function and the firmware image.
Executing this update application make update the BT-40 firmware to Ver.1.0.1.

2. Target product

BT-40 and the Headset of BT-40S before firmware version Ver.1.0.1.

3. Operating conditions

This tool can be updated in the following environment. Please update according to each release note.

  • Windows computer (Windows10) with USB Type-C port
  • The BT-40S Controller or Android™ smartphone (Android 9 or later) which BT-40 works.

Firmware Update Tool Release Notes for Android

1. How to check firmware version

  1. Open the update application by tapping the "BT-40 Up..." icon in the application list.
  2. Connect the BT-40 and BT-40S Controller or smartphone.
  3. If no firmware update is required, it will indicate that no update is required.
    If a firmware update is required, an updateable screen will be displayed.

2. Advance preparation

Please prepare bellows.

  • Target product: BT-40 (or Headset of BT-40S)
  • The BT-40S Controller or AndroidTM smartphone (Android 9 or later) which BT-40 works.
    Keep the battery level at 30% or higher.
  • Update application: BT-40_101_FWUpdateTool.apk
    This update application includes the firmware update function and the firmware image.
    You can get it after proceeding from step 1 to 4 in section " 5. Firmware update procedure".
    After update firmware, it can be deleted from your device.

3. Firmware update procedure

  1. Remove the BT-40 from BT-40S Controller or smartphone if BT-40 connected with them.
  2. Turn off the all applications.
  3. Access the following URL using a browser or QR code reader with the BT-40S controller or smartphone connected to the Internet.

  4. Tap the "Open" after downloading the update application.
    Update application will be installed after proceeding through the following dialogs.
    When you download the apk for the first time, the setting screen that allows the installation will be displayed, so set it to "Allow".

    * If you close the update application, restart the update application by following steps.
    1. Tap the "Files" icon in the application list.
    2. Tap the "BT-40_10..." in Downloads folder.
    After them, you can install the update application same with Step4.

    * If you cannot download by clicking the "Yes,I agree to download Farmware Update Tool" button, access the following URL with your PC browser, download the apk, and then transfer it to the BT-40S controller or smartphone and install.

  5. Open the Update application by tapping the "OPEN" and tap the "Agree" after checking the "SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT".
    Update application will wait for connecting the BT-40.

    * If you close the update application, tap the "BT-40 Up..." icon in the application list.
    After that, the update application will be opened.

  6. Connect the BT-40 and BT-40S Controller or smartphone.

  7. Follow the displayed procedure to proceed with the firmware update.

    Firmware update takes around 10 seconds.

    Caution: During firmware update, do not disconnect BT-40 from BT-40S Controller or smartphone.
    When disconnected, device might not operate correctly.

  8. After firmware update is completed, the following dialog will be shown. Tap the "OK" to finish update process.。

    * If the error dialog is appeared, keep connect the BT-40 and BT-40S Controller or smartphone.
    Close the update application (In BT-40S Controller, press the “History key” and flick out the window of the update application.).
    Then back to Step 5.

  9. Disconnect BT-40 from BT-40S Controller or smartphone.
    The firmware of BT-40 updated will active from next working.

4. Troubleshooting

Problem

BT-40 after updating firmware does not show images from the connected device, which was confirmed the fine connection with BT-40.

Possible cause1

BT-40 doesn't show the image by "Tap to hide images" feature enabled.
(This feature can be used MOVERIO Link Pro.)

Solution 1

Tap the BT-40 to release the hiding images.

  • Procedure: Tap twice the left-side of headset by two fingers.
  • Expect result: BT-40 show the images by releasing the hiding.

Possible cause2

Updating was failed.

Solution 2

Please perform the update procedure again.

1. How to check firmware version

  1. Connect the plug of BT-40 to USB Type-C Port on Windows computer.
  2. Execute "BT-40_V101_FWUpdateTool.exe" *1
    The firmware version is indicated on the below dialog.

    *1 Please turn off the other applications before executing this update application.

2. Advance preparation

Please prepare bellows.

  • Target product: BT-40 (or Headset of BT-40S)
  • Update application: BT-40_V101_FWUpdateTool.exe
    This update application includes the firmware update function and the firmware image.
    After update firmware, it can be deleted form PC.
  • Windows computer (Windows10) with USB Type-C port
    It should be installed "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 X86".
    Please install it below procedure.
    1. Download "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 X86" installer and install.

      Access to the URL: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/
      Scroll to the next screen and click "Older downloads".

      Click "Other Tools, Frameworks, and Redistributables" and click Select "x86" and click "Download" to download on the package download screen.

3. Firmware update procedure

  1. Connect the plug of BT-40 to USB Type-C Port on Windows computer.

    * At first update, "Setting up a device" notice will be shown.
    The device driver will be installed automatically, but your PC must be connected to the Internet.
    Please wait for a while until "Device is ready" notice comes and then move to next procedure.

  2. Execute "BT-40_V101_FWUpdateTool.exe"*1
    The below dialog is appeared after executing it.
    Click "OK" to update firmware. Firmware update takes around 20 seconds.
    Caution: During firmware update, do not disconnect BT-40 from Windows computer.
    When disconnected, device might not operate correctly.

    *1 Please turn off the other applications before executing this update application.
    * If the following dialog is appeared, windows computer cannot detect the BT-40 connection.Please remove the BT-40 and back to Step 1.

  3. After firmware update is completed, the following dialog will be shown.
    Click "OK" to finish update process.

    * If the error dialog is appeared, keep connect the windows computer and the BT-40. Then back to Step 2.

  4. Disconnect BT-40 from Windows computer.
    The firmware of BT-40 updated will active from next working.

4. Troubleshooting
