The previous Moverio was an Android terminal that integrated a controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) with a CPU and a headset, but each has the following features.

The headset of the BT-35E/BT-40 is IPx2.
The BT-40 headset and the controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) meet IP52 requirement.
However, if you are connecting the headset, the Type-C USB connector will not meet IP52, so please be careful when using it.
The Headset of BT-30C and IF Box of BT-35E does not have any IP grade.

No, the headset and the controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) do not have ATEX certification.

No, the battery is not hot swappable and cannot be changed.

You can use the earphone and microphone of the CTIA standard 4-pole jack. Some products such as noise canceling earphones cannot be used.

For BT-35E/BT-40, it canot be used at the same time. No music is played from the speakers when plugged into the headphone jack.
For the BT-45C, music plays through the headset speakers even when inserted into the headphone jack.Before using the earphone microphone, change the audio output setting of the dedicated app (MOVERIO Link/MOVERIO Link Pro).

The BT-45C has a volume amplification control for the headset speakers, which allows it to produce volumes that exceed those of normal use. Please agree to the audio amplification function settings of the dedicated app (MOVERIO Link/MOVERIO Link Pro) and change the settings before using.

From Version 2.2.00 of the controller system software, headset speaker volume amplification control can now be performed using the volume button.
If you press the volume up button when the system volume is set to maximum, a confirmation screen will appear, so tap "OK".

Two more permission screens will appear, so give them permission.

A volume control button will appear on the controller screen, so adjust the volume.

Please note that by changing this setting, you will hear loud sounds, which may damage your hearing.
The microphone of the controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) and the BT-45C headset mic have a noise reduction function.

When using an earphone microphone, change the audio output setting in the dedicated app (MOVERIOLink/MOVERIO Link Pro) before use. The Moverio Basic Function SDK is also available.

The material of the glass part of BT-30C (light guide plate) is plastic (cycle olefin polymer (COP) resin) and not glass.

The controller (BO-IC400) is available in various countries.
In some countries, 2.4GHz wireless LAN is not allowed to use 12ch and 13ch.
After the version upgrade, the supported channels are 1ch to 11ch.
For router settings, refer to the router's instruction manual.

From Version 2.2.00 of the controller system software, headset speaker volume amplification control can now be performed using the volume button.
If you press the volume up button when the system volume is set to maximum, a confirmation screen will appear, so tap "OK".

A volume control button will appear on the controller screen, so adjust the volume.

When connecting the BT-45C and transitioning to trackpad mode, a screen explaining how to adjust the screen position is displayed.

Explanation screen is not displayed when headset other than BT-45C is connected.

Please connect the Windows® PC and Moverio headsets. For headset that use an interface box(BT-35E), please connect to Windows PC with USB Type-C™ to C* cable.
And use Windows® standard camera API. Please refer the "3.4. Camera Management" of developer's guide.
*USB Type-C™ to C cable must correspond to Display Port Alternate mode

For BT-35E, please connect Android device and BT-35E with USB Type-C™ to C* cable and use Moverio SDK. Moverio SDK for Android 7.0 or later will be provided in this site.
For BT-45C/BT-40/BT-30C, please connect to Anroid device with Android 8.0 or later and use the Moverio SDK.

The software on the connected device must support this camera switching function. To support the Moverio headset camera, application software should be developed using either the Windows® API from Microsoft or Moverio SDK which Epson will provide on this site.

No. When the sensor control is being used with one app, it can't be used with another.

Yes.

The geomagnetism may be out of alignment. Please calibrate. The geomagnetic sensor is built into both the controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) and the headset.

The calibration method is the same for both headsets and controllers.To calibrate, while the app is running, hold the unit (headset or controller) with the sensors used by the appand draw a figure eight in space. Check with the app vendor about the geomagnetic sensor used by the app.When calibrating the headset, the headset must be turned on, so be sure to connect it to the host device.

If the headset is BT-35E, please follow the instructions below to save the calibration data.

  1. Keep BT-35E charging with USB micro B cable.
  2. Draw the infinity sign when it is image-input from a host device.
  3. Remove the image-input cable, 'No Signal' will be displayed on BT-35E.

The power supply of the device will be temporarily cut off, if you remove the USB microB when it is used as a power feed unit. The sensors will be deactivated. Please reconfigure the settings of the connected device if it is necessary.

This is managed by the application software on the connected device through the USB Type-C™ connection. The software must be compliant to the UVC1.1 standard.

Firmware updates for Moverio headsets (BT-35E, BT-40, BT-45C) can be updated using the dedicated tool for Windows PC. Please download and use the tools for each product from the Moverio software update site.

Please go to the Settings app System menu and check for updates.

Please refer to the Moverio Controller Function SDK developer's guide "2.3. Camera Control by Android CameraAPI".

When Moverio headset(BT-35E, BT-45C) is connected, the assignment of camera Id in BO-IC400 changes. Therefore, when saving the state in the cache of the application, please be careful not to cause inconsistency with when the BT-35E is not connected.

BT-40S (BO-IC400) can be used, but BT-45CS (BO-IC400N) cannot be used because it does not support Google Mobile Service.

BT-40S (BO-IC400) can be used, but BT-45CS (BO-IC400N) does not support Google Mobile Service.

BT-40S (BO-IC400) can be installed from Google Play, but for BT-45CS (BO-IC400N), please use the pre-installed Files app.

The Controller run Android.
For BT-40S(BO-IC400), similar to an Android phone you can run familiar apps like Google Maps, Chrome, and Gmail. You can also install 3rd party apps with Google Play.
BT-45CS (BO-IC400N) does not support Google Mobile Service, so Google Maps, Gmail, etc. cannot be used. Also, GooglePlay cannot be used.

You can get the image on the glasses side in trackpad mode from system software version 2.1.00.

BT-40S (BO-IC400) and BT-45CS (BO-IC400N) have different handling methods.

You can use Google Voice software which is built into the Android operating system.

The controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) supports Portrait and Landscape display, however since the headset is a Landscape display, please make the screen configuration compatible with Landscape display.
If the layout is set to Portrait, the image may be stretched or the buttons may be out of screen and cannot be operated.
Please note that the app cannot be started in trackpad mode in the following cases.

  1. When the tag <application android:resizeableActivity="false"> is defined in Android Manifest to declare non-support for extended display.
  2. When displaying the application screen on the extended display using the API of the Presentation class

The trackpad cursor control uses Android standard mouse control. Buttons that do not respond when pressed while using the mouse cannot be pressed even when the cursor is operated in trackpad mode.
Please use buttons with a Button class or ImageButton class that can be operated with the mouse.

Click the "Cancel" button to cancel on the confirmation screen displayed when connecting to MOVERIO.
Also, if the controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) OS is Android 10, turning on the system UI demo mode "Disable automatic UI mode transition" in the developer options will prevent automatic switching. In this case, the confirmation screen will not appear.
To switch to trackpad mode, click the switch button on the left side of the controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N) twice.

You can switch to mirror mode by pressing the switch key twice on the left of the device.
Please note that if you switch modes while using the app, the app may close and data may be lost.

Yes. However, phone calls may be audible from the smart device even if earphones are connected.

Please use a backup application which is compatible with Android.
The main steps are as follows.

  • Please back up the app with backup application. The file with the extension apk will be generated.
  • Connect the Moverio controller to your computer, copy the apk file and save it to your computer.

<Restore procedure>

  • Copy the apk file from your computer to the Moverio controller.
  • Install the copied file on the Moverio controller using the Filer app.
  1. When if "×" is marked on Wi-Fi icon, the network feature of BO-IC400 is limited.

    If the network feature is limited, its BO-IC400 can't update system software by OTA (Over The Air).
    Please refer to here for how to remove the restriction.
  2. If the time is not correct, please update after correcting it.

The preinstalled QR code reader app does not support reading Wi-Fi settings QR codes.

If you are unable to read it, please use the system's standard QR code scanning function.

  1. Settings->Network & Internet->Select Wi-Fi
  2. Select the target access point from the displayed access point list
  3. Tap the QR reading mark displayed on the right side of the screen to start the camera
  4. Scroll the screen so that the camera preview fills the screen

We have confirmed that the latest version of the video playback app (Google Photo) that is pre-installed on the BO-IC400 is no longer able to play videos using the trackpad. Please install an app that can play videos (Gallery Go, etc.) from Google Play.

Until version 2.1.00, the notification area closed automatically, but from version 2.2.00 the notification area does not close automatically.
After pressing The settings button from The notification area, you need to manually close/close The notification area (swipe up) to display The settings screen and launch bar.
You need to press the "Close" button to hide the brightness bar.

From Version 2.2.00 of the controller system software, if you are using a dedicated controller (BO-IC400/BO-IC400N), pressing the Power button + Volume up key simultaneously while in trackpad mode will take a screenshot of the headset screen.

From Version 2.2.00 of the controller system software, Add a camera custom state switch function that can be use to select which camera is prioritized.
You can set it by selecting [Settings] - [Accessibility] and selecting [Camera Custom State] in "Advanced setting".
Default setting is OFF. Turns ON when a camera-equipped headset (BT-45C/BT-35E) is connected for the first time. After that, you can switch ON/OFF from the Settings app.

From Version 2.2.00 of the controller system software, Add a sensor custom state switch function that can be use to select which sensor is prioritized.
You can set it by selecting [Settings] - [Accessibility] and selecting [Sensor Custom State] in "Advanced setting".
Default setting is OFF. Turns ON when a headset (BT-45C/BT-40/BT-35E) is connected for the first time. After that, you can switch ON/OFF from the Settings app.

Put your controller in developer mode, select [Settings]-[System]-[{} Developer Options], and turn off "Disable automatic UI mode transition". Default is on.

Development

You can develop apps with Windows® standard API. The recommended development environment is Visual Studio. Please refer the Developing Windows Apps of the Developer's Guide.

*For BT-35E, please update the firmware to after V1.1.0 if you use Moverio SDK.
Because, if you use the application by Moverio SDK, the operation of BT-35E's system may become unstable.
Please refer to the "Firmware Release Note (V1.1.0)" for firmware update.

You can develop apps with Moverio SDK and Android standard API. The recommended development environment is Android Studio.

Yes, it support side-by-side 3D format which contains the left and right side images in one frame.
For BT-40S and BT-45CS controllers (BO-IC400, BO-IC400N), 2D/3D switching is possible using the pre-installed "MOVERIO Link Pro".
For Android device, the Utility application for Moverio "MOVERIO Link" allows you to switch easily from 2D to 3D.
However, some Android devices may not support the MOVERIO Link application. Please check the device list on the Google Play MOVERIO Link page.
For Windows devices, you should develop the application software for 3D.
For BT-35E, it doesn't support the 3D format of HDMI.

Moverio SDK provides the function. Please refer "2.2. Display management" of the Developer's Guide.
